The Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero and the Permanent Secretary Dr. Diana Atwine are in Karamoja to launch the Seasonal Malaria Chemo-prevention.
The honourable minister of health is expected to be the guest of honour.
According to a tentative program shared with KaramojaNews by a source at the Ministry, the Minister and her team are expected to visit the facility.

A total of 221,271 malaria confirmed cases were reported, up by 13% cases reported around May, Reporting Increased to 74% from 70% in subsequent weeks with 67 Districts reporting malaria upsurge.
Manafwa, Budaka, Kween, Bukwo, Bugiri, Nabilatuk were in upsurge and had inadequate ACT stock, Malaria incidence increased to 5.2/1000 from 4.6/1000 within the same period (May).
Malaria is reported by the Ministry of Health (MOH) as the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in Uganda, accounting for approximately 8–13 million episodes per year, 30–50% of outpatient visits at health facilities, 35% of hospital admissions, 9–14% of hospital deaths (nearly half of those in children less than 5 years of age) and a great many deaths occurring outside of health-care settings.
Efforts to reduce the burden of malaria have intensified recently through the use of effective tools for malaria control, notably long-lasting insecticide treated nets (ITNs), indoor residual spraying (IRS) of insecticides, treatment with artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs), and intermittent preventive therapy (IPT) for high-risk groups.
