Despite the threats of rain on the opening day of the event, the people of Karamoja, surrounding districts and thousands who travelled from as far Ethiopia, Sudan and Kenya are ready to enjoy the 7th Edition of Karamoja Cultural event set to expose hidden treasures in Karamoja region.
As different officials are expected to turn up for cultural event, the people who have already arrived at the venue in Abim Secondary School have on a high gear started to display the different items to showcase as a prove that they have been organizing for the event.
This 7th Karamoja Cultural event edition is being hosted by Abim district and thousands of visitors have already starting flocking the town in their different cultural attires today Tuesday, 30th August 2022 most notably the Atekere clans from Kenya, South Sudan and Ethiopia.
The mother of Abim district, Hon. Janet Akech Okori-moe the woman member of Parliament Abim district after seeing the set up and the spirit already on ground expects the most colorful and joyful Cultural event that has never happened in the region.
She attributes this to the high levels of organization shown by Abim which she says is so unique that will attract and force people to come and witness themselves.
Akech expressed her gratitude to the people who has turn up on the first day and encouraged others to join up fast to not miss any bit of the unique culture of the Karimojong along with the various categories of activities that cuts across all kinds of personalities.
Hopestar Akure a businesswoman who had already displayed her items like beads, caps, t-shirts, Necklaces among others, said it is her joy to prove to world that she loves her Culture through participating in the event. She encouraged other business fraternity to join up as she expects the business to boom.
“This is an opportunity to sell all that i have in stock and it will boost my business of selling Cultural items. Also, this is my best chance to meet other business people across the world that will attend this event, and so, I welcome you all to come and share with us what you have from other parts of the country and outside”, Akure concluded.
Brian Okello a 14 years old boy who also turned up to witness the official opening of the event said he is eager to see different visitors coming for this event and that this will be his chance to see new things which he has never seen in his culture.
He is so appreciative to organizing committee for not restricting the age bracket to attend and this would give them and the fellows opportunity to see things with their naked eyes in his own district. He confessed that this kind of cultural event is unique from the other last three that he attended.
More people are still expected to attend this 7th Edition of Karamoja Cultural event that will be started today 30th August 2022 at Abim secondary school lasting for 5days until 3rd September,2022.
