The beneficiaries of Kolir comprehensive secondary school in Bukedea district on Monday 22nd August 2022 expressed joy over their rescue by the speaker of Parliament of Uganda Rt. Hon. Annet Anita Among who doubles as a woman Member of Parliament for Bukedea district.
The money will be helping them to meet the burden of paying development fee for construction.
Isaac Odwar on behalf of the joyous parents said the sh10m that Among gave the school could have taken them three years to raise given their low level of income.
The support was delivered by Among’s political assistant, Ziporah Akol, who handed over the money to Jackson Osire, the Chairperson board of Governors, for the construction of a block named ‘Anita block’ at Kolir comprehensive secondary school.

Kolir comprehensive secondary school started as a community school in 1998 and with the influence of Osire the who was by then Bukedea county member of parliament, it was coded as a government aided school.
Osire, who received the cash on behalf of the school said the school has a total population of 788 students with both ‘O’ level and ‘A’ level, studying under one block.
“With this money I challenge the building committee to expedite the construction and in case of any shortages report to the board that will channel it to the speaker as the block is now on her names,” Osire said.
Moses Opwata, the school head teacher, said due to shortage of classrooms, students in lower classes of S1, S2 and S3 were dispersed home during examination period in order to create space for the candidate classes.
“We do not have an examination block so we always send off some classes home in order to create space for the candidate classes,” Opwata said.
Akol therefore called upon the BOG, PTA and buildings committee members to oversee the project and to ensure that the money performs its targeted purpose.
