The microfinance support center has today conducted an awareness walk to implore communities in the Karamoja region to harness good culture of saving.

This was done when the MSC marked it 20th year in service, providing micro-loans to MSMEs and SACCOs across the country.

Chief walker RDC Wopuwa George William said the walk was to strengthen the savings culture of the people which is still a big issue that needs to be transformed through mindset change and continuous engagements.

According to the head of business at Microfinance Support Center Uganda Mr. Godson Ainamani, business is promising in Karamoja but more emphasis need to be put on the people’s mindset change.

The walk which covered a 5km distance, from the MSC offices in Moroto town to Hotel Africana involved various stakeholders such as the business community that work together with MSC, Emyooga SACCO leaders from the nine districts of Karamoja, RDCs and Chief Administrative officers.
